Marketing and Spring break

I finished Marketing today. I got a 90% on the test but that is only 50% of the final grade. The other 50% is a 5 page paper that I had to write and it won't be graded till at least next week.

But the best thing about being done with my Marketing test is that now I have officially started my first Spring Break! One week with no school! What shall I do with myself?

Well for starters I have to buy a new cell phone because on Wednesday night I put my water bottle in my purse without the lid being on all the way and I had a water explosion which has caused my phone to have issues - I can't hear you but you can hear me - talk about a one sided conversation!

I also want to try making a Grasshopper pie. My aunt Barbara makes the best Grasshopper pie and even though she won't give me her secret yummy recipe I found one online that looks good and semi easy. If it turns out of course I will blog about it.

I plan on working out. I plan on spending some quality time with my husband, cat and the outdoors. I will get to know a clean house and reorganize paperwork. I get to file taxes.

At work this week I officially start taking over two Outback's in Hong Kong. Thankfully I don't have to learn the language but it is very different to do accounting for international companies so I have a lot to learn over the next couple of months. I am also losing two of my store's that I do now... I know whatever one's I am losing I am going to miss them.

Bruce is headed to Miami later this week. So overall I guess my week of no homework is turning into a pretty busy week. I am off to do errands with Bruce. Have a great Saturday!

Happy Saturday!

So I am up early to drink some coffee, take a shower and head over to school. I can actually blog this morning because I finished my homework yesterday and I don't have a test today.

I thought I would pat myself on the back and recap how my first semester is going. First of all my prerequisites which are the basics of the business concepts (what is taught all semester in undergraduate level) are what I go to each Saturday. Some classes are three weeks some are two but below are the classes completed and the grades:
Economics 95%
Accounting - Financial 99%, Managerial 95%
Finance 90%
Management 90%
Marketing - TBD next Saturday
Overall I will take the 90's knowing that I only had to get 70% to pass and I am doing my best when I have to read whole books in two weeks.

With my Wednesday night class, Stats, I have only had one test so far but I did get a 98% and the test was when I was really sick in February so I am very happy. I have one more project and another test before the final so I will be very busy in the next month and a half but the light is already at the end of the tunnel.

What have I learned in going back to school?
1. Homework is NOT easier. I would rather be doing 10 million other things than homework.
2. It is amazing how many friends you can get when you are all in the same class.
3. I did learn and retain a lot of information at my time at USU.
4. I really enjoy learning new things.
5. There is a great feeling of accomplishment when you do your best and the grade reflects it.

I am sure there is more but for now that is all that is coming to my mind.

Today will be a high of 80 and tomorrow 83 so I am hoping to spend most of my time outside tomorrow. I am so happy it is great weather and our Spring is here. Time to clean up the patios and get all ready for the long hot summer.

Have a great Saturday!

Valentine's and sick sick sick!

I pretty much missed Valentine's day and February for blogging. My valentine's day was interesting because I got up early to go to class only to get all the way down to St. Pete and learn that class was cancelled. So I headed home and went with the husband to visit his mom. It was a really fantastic visit. I hadn't seen her in a month (busy with school and work) so it was nice to catch up. Then we headed home and I took my Finance test. I PASSED FINANCE! Which means all my number classes on Saturday's are done and it is all on to theory and just reading a lot. The last two weeks have been Management. I took my test yesterday but don't know my score yet so I will blog that later.
My husband cooked me a beautiful valentine's ribeye roast. It was heaven. We even lit candles and ate at the table to enjoy it. Romantic! I just feel sad that I don't have a picture to share!
But I was so run down that I don't think I was thinking clearly and by the next night I knew I was coming down with a bug. On Monday the 16th I had the day off for presidents day and I had planned on doing tons of studying but I woke up sick sick sick. High fever, sore throat, coughing....so I studied some and slept a lot! I was so sick that I ended up taking my first sick day from OSI. That isn't so bad because I have worked there two years. Even the hubby said he had never seen me so sick. So on Tuesday I slept a lot and tried to do everything in my power to get over being sick. On Wednesday, I went to work because my fever was down and even though I wasn't feeling tons better I was not going to be bored at home anymore. There are only so many soap operas you can watch. Although I was so worn out by Wednesday afternoon that I left work at 3 so that I could relax before my class on Wednesday night. I had a huge test in Stats class that night. I went with a nose that would not stop running, a fever and a cough. I was miserable. I was so happy when I was done with it.
On Thursday I woke up still feeling aweful but when I walked out to the living room it was my husband that concerned me for he was wrapped up in a blanket and starting to get sick. That was enough for me. I called the doctor and we both went. Both of us had fever's and we both got on antibiotics. The next day I could tell a difference and although my cough is still hanging around at least I have my energy back. Bruce didn't get as sick as I did but he just recently got his energy back. He still is coughing but we will deal with it.
So the other half of February flew by with the focus on getting our health back and catching up at work and school. I am so happy that March is here! Warmer weather is on its way.

February already?

I can't believe how fast 2009 is going. I made it through the first week of February and I am very proud of it. My schedule at work the first week of the month is always the hardest because I am closing 15 stores and doing financial statements for all 15 of them. It is a lot of work but there were a lot of things that went right this month to make it smoother. So instead of pulling 14 hours days for 5 days, I only had to pull 12 hours 2 days and then 10 hours 2 days and a simple 8 hours the last day. Of course most of those days I then had to come home and do homework but it really wasn't so bad. I am now studying finance on my saturday classes till February the 14th and then I change subjects again. The nice thing about this class is that although there are 7 quizzes and 7 tests, I get to take them at home in my PJ's with an open book. The first two chapters were really boring to me but on the third chapter we started applying it more to business and I am finding it interesting so it is much easier. I am done with four of the quizzes and tests and right now my average is 85 so I just have three more to go and I am done.
On Friday, Bruce and I went to Roy's for sushi. I had this craving for it and Bruce had taken me to work so that he could use my car to go to a business meeting. Since he had to come over to Tampa to pick me up we decided to turn it into a date night. We decided to eat at the sushi bar so that we could watch the kitchen.
Yesterday was filled with school, homework and catching up on Top Chef, Scrubs and finally getting to watch Loving Leah (Mike thanks so much for letting me know about it, of course I cried with in the first five minutes! You are truly the best brother. Now you can roll your eyes. Don't worry I didn't make Bruce watch it. He fell asleep on the couch while we were watching something else and so while he slept I enjoyed it.)
Today it is more homework, housework, grocery shopping and then preparing some meals for the week. I am going to try a sweet potato and garlic soup so if it turns out good I will be sharing that!

Acceptance

I got accepted to University of South Florida! It came in the mail yesterday! I know you can't really see the letter but it is nice to know it is real. Now I have to work on immunizations and figuring out classes!
