Memory tag

I saw this on my cousin's blog and had to participate. I enjoy remembering where I have been. Thank you to all who comment in advance! It will bring great pleasure.

Here are the directions:
1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together, or one of the first memories you have of me. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

New Haircut and No Cavities

This week was a very busy week for me. Usually my week consists of working, working out, fixing dinner, studying for the gmat and watching some tv. But this week, I got to switch up the routine with a new haircut and a dentist appointment. I am growing my hair out again and decided to do a shag although my hair needs to grow out two more inches to make the shag even more shagalicious I think it looks pretty great. I also got a few blonde highlights. Although they don't show in the picture below, when I get in the sunlight it makes a big difference.

At the dentist, I am proud to say I have no cavities. I was a little worried as it had been two years since I have been, so it was a big relief for me. Bruce was not so lucky at his dentist appointment as he ended up having a root canal. He has been a real trooper though- hasn't complained too much. He still has to go back and get a crown but it is nice knowing all the infection is out of his month. He is looking forward to getting his teeth cleaned too. Since he quit smoking in January (Yes 6 months!) he deserves a clean mouth.

The Pay off

After a lot of work and sweat, our bedroom is done. Below is the white walls we had before and Bruce scraping the door jam. We had a lot of peeling paint which is what prompted us to become weekend warriors.

The finished result... Our paint color is called Serenity although my husband says it reminds him of the water in the Caribbean.

The blue is toned down when not in direct sunlight... much more relaxing. Now Bruce and I are going to enjoy our bed and bedroom. WE ARE EXHAUSTED. (I will put more pictures on facebook for those of you who want to see more.)

Caution Work ahead

We are painting our master bedroom today! I am hoping to be far enough ahead to post pics tomorrow. But in painting we have decided to also paint the baseboards and door jams. Some of the paint is peeling so right now we are in the process of sanding and getting all the peeling paint off. I know in the end it will look so much better but I can't see the light at the end of the tunnell yet.

GMAT

So after 10 years of no school, I have made the choice to go back to school and get an MBA. I have to first take the GMAT. The GMAT is a test on written skills, math and verbal communication. The test itself will take about 4 hours... if that wasn't enough to make me run for the hills well the practise math part was. If x=7+y and y=8-5x, then x is ?... I excelled in math 15 years ago in high school but now feel like I am back to learning the basics. I did get 55% in my practise test so I didn't completely fail but I do have a long way to go. I want to get a 600 or better on the test. (800 is the best you can do)
I am taking the test 9/13. I have a lot of studying to do. In the meantime I am also researching schools. I have three picked out. University of South Florida is in Tampa so I would be able to attend "night school", it is affordable but you have the headache of scheduling your own classes and buying your own books. The other two MBA programs are internet MBA's. University of Florida - you may have heard of the gators if you are a fan of college football or basketball - is my second choice. It is the most expensive program but I would be done in 27 months and they will give me a laptop and ipod touch as well as all books, fees and guaranteed class schedule comes with it. They do have a graduation ceremony which I feel is a big deal because I didn't do the ceremony with my BS and I think that made my mom sad. The third choice would make me a Seminole - Florida State University. I have to still research this program. But it is exciting to think of all the new experiences I will be having and all the new things I will be learning.
I can't promise that I will be as active online as I have been through all of this but I will keep you updated.

Happy Birthday Brother!

My brother, Mike, will be celebrating a birthday on July 5th. So what better time to blog about him and tell him how wonderful he is! Growing up 3 years apart in age, we weren't the best of friends. We would fight over the remote - you know I wanted to watch My Little Ponies and he wanted to watch Transformers. But for all our fights, we did have a lot of fun together too. Like jumping up and down on the swinging bridge freaking mom out. Below are a few of the good times we have had together.

This picture was taken at the Willow Grove, PA train station. We are taking a train to Philadelphia PA for the Live 8 concert. Mike, his wife, Becky and my mom and come out to visit us for Mike's birthday. Plane ticket $300, hotel $100, going to a free concert priceless!

Mike walked me down the aisle for my wedding. I had always wanted my Grandpa Davis to walk me down the aisle. He passed away before I found the one I wanted to marry. But it was an easy choice for Mike to fill in. Mike has a lot of the same qualities that my Grandpa Davis has - strong faith, an ability to be firm but not mean, a love of life, a great work ethic, and he looks great in a lei! Actually I knew Mike would have me laughing most of the day which he was able to do, even through all my butterflies (nerves).

Happy Birthday Bro! I will love you forever.
